Greetings Saints and Friends,
“There you have it, folks. Another family has found the place they have been looking for, right here on our TV program, The Real Estate Guy! Remember, if you are looking for that special place to live, call the number on your screen right now and talk with one of our trained agents today. Until next week, Happy Housing!”
“Greta, have you ever noticed the people on that show are always looking for a different home in another city, state, or even another country than where they already live?” “Yes, Betty, I have noticed that. I’ve also noticed that the place they think will make them happy, someone else has already lived in, and moved out of to another place. Do you remember when Pastor Harold was reading to us from the Bible that ‘God has set eternity in our hearts’?” Ecclesiastes 3:11 “Yes, I remember. He said, because we are created in the image of God, there is a part of us that is eternal. We have a restlessness in our souls, along with a desire for a permanent home that is beyond what this world can offer. I can remember when my father was in the military. We lived in a number of beautiful places in the United States and around the world. But not one of them ever felt like, ‘This is home – here is where I want to stay.’” “I understand what you mean. There is a longing in my soul, as I know there is in others’, for a forever home. A permanent home where there is no sorrow, sickness, pain, disappointment, sadness, heartaches, or broken relationships.” “Yes, I agree. And I would add, a place where I don’t have to take medication, do laundry, or clean the bathroom. Ha-ha!” “I’m so grateful I know there is such a place. Jesus said, ‘In My Father’s house are many dwellings. I go to prepare a place for you.’ John 14:2 In heaven, there is no sin. So everything is perfect.” “Pastor pointed out something we inwardly know – we’ve never lived in a perfect place, because wherever we go we take a sin nature with us. He said, ‘There is no difference – all have sinned.’ Romans 3:23 And sin affects every person and everything. Our whole world is tainted by the ill effects of sin. Romans 8:22 ‘When we recognize that fact,’ he said, ‘it’s not an excuse, but a discovery that something needs to be fixed!’”
“I loved the illustration he used: ‘It doesn’t matter if a person is like a water faucet that just drips, or a broken pipe that is gushing, both need a remedy! Whether a person sins a little or a lot, they’re still a leaking sinner in need of repair. And thank God, He does more than repair – He restores! As the Psalmist says in Psalm 23, ‘He restores my soul.’” “I know how valuable our soul is to God because Jesus asked, ‘What will a man give in exchange for his soul?’ Matthew 16:26 I remember when my Sunday School teacher taught us Psalm 139:13-16. When God creates each of us in our mother’s womb, He includes our soul. The ‘real’ us. Our likes, dislikes, and our unique personalities. She said, ‘Everything that makes “you” – “you” is designed by God. And each of us is a masterpiece that He longs to restore.’” “Did you hear the joy in Pastor’s voice when he said, ‘Jesus desires to clothe the “real” you in a sin-free, everlasting body, that will live eternally in a sin-free forever home called heaven’?” “Yes, I heard the joy. And I heard the reminder that in order for that to happen, God had to take care of our sin problem. He did not send a mighty angel or two, because only His Son, Jesus, would do. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 What a privilege it is to be able to share that truth with others. That anyone can honestly tell Jesus from their heart, ‘Thank You, Jesus, for paying for my sins when You died in my place and rose again. Help me to live each day for You, as I anticipate the forever home You’re preparing for me. Amen’”
“Just think, Betty, Jesus is in heaven preparing a fabulous forever home for all who trust in Him. He said, ‘And if I prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself that where I am, there you may be also.’” John 14:3 “I’m looking so forward to that moment, Greta.” “Me, too, Betty. And the Bible seems to indicate that Jesus is coming soon for us. Oh, aren’t you thankful that we can echo the words of the Psalmist, ‘I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever’! Psalm 23:6 “Yes. And the last prayer in the Bible is one of my favorites, ‘Even so, come, Lord Jesus!’” Revelation 22:20
