Greetings Saints and Friends,
While I was sitting in my study this morning reading, I noticed my nose was rather stuffy. Then the word ‘Covid’ came to mind. I asked myself, ‘Soul, do you have a Biblical thought on Covid?’ Especially during this time, Christians should be living with a Biblical thought on Covid. Probably not original with me, but rather the Apostle Paul, who helps us to think Biblically about Covid. Each time we read or hear the word Covid, we should think of Conquering, Overcoming, with Victory, In Him, Daily! Jesus empowers each believer, every day, to live a life pleasing to Him and best for us. Scripture says, ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’ Philippians 4:12
COVID. The very word that Satan is using to strike fear in the hearts of millions, can remind us that while taking precautions such as washing our hands, keeping our distance, and covering our coughs and sneezes, we need not live in fear. The first letter in the word Covid is C – which reminds us that we are Conquerors. Actually, the Bible says, we are ‘more’ than conquerors through Him who loved us. Romans 8:37 Conquering is an active word. So what should we do? We should actively pray every day. Giving thanks and praise to God for Who He is, and ask Him to protect our friends, family, doctors, and nurses. Ask Him to help people get well. And pray for many, many people to trust in Jesus as their Savior during this time. The second letter in the word Covid is O for Over-comers. We are not only conquerors, we are Over-comers, as well. The Apostle John said, ‘You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.’ 1 John 4:4
The One who indwells every believer is the Holy Spirit. Jesus sometimes calls Him, the Spirit of truth. John 16:13 One of the many things He enjoys doing is helping us to Overcome he who is in the world, the devil. Jesus said, “Satan is a liar and the father of lies. There is no truth in him.” John 8:44 His schemes and lies to scare us will utterly fail because we have the presence of the Lord in our lives! The third letter in the word coVid is V – which for us who know the Lord as Savior, stands for Victory! Because we are Conquerors, because we are Over-comers, because the Holy Spirit lives within us, we live in Victory! Paul says, ‘Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.’ 1Corinthians 15:57 As the hymn says, ‘O Victory in Jesus, my Savior forever!’
The next to the last letter in the word covid, is ‘i’. This reminds us that our victory is ‘in’ Him. The apostle John said, ‘By this we know that we abide ‘in’ Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.’ 1 John 4:13 When we trust in Jesus as our Savior, we are placed ‘in’ Him and He comes to live in us. He is always with us. His promise never to leave or forsake us is true. Hebrews 13:5
And finally, the last letter in the word coviD is D for Daily. Jesus teaches us to pray, ‘Give us this day our Daily bread.’ Matthew 6:11 This demonstrates our continual trust in God for our every need. He gives us what we need to live for Him in this world. And He has provided all that we need to live with Him in Heaven when that time comes. His provision comes through Jesus who said, “I’m the way, the truth and the Iife. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6
Remember, as Christians, we can live with a biblical thought about Covid every day: Conquering, Overcoming, with Victory, In Him, Daily! Jesus is the great Physician. And He is the only One who has the spiritual cure that every person needs. It’s called Salvation. ‘Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.’ Acts 4:12
Jesus provided His own pure, powerful, preserving blood to wash away and cleanse each person of what keeps everyone out of heaven – our sins. Right now,
you can make peace with God and prevail in this world until it’s time to go home to Heaven. Tell Him from your heart, ‘Thank You, Jesus, for paying for my sins when You died and rose again. Come into my heart as my Savior, strength, and Friend. And help me every day to live for You. Amen’
