Today Timothy and I performed at one of our favorite places: Mountain Park Senior Living in Phoenix. Everyone working there is very nice, and we can tell they’re genuinely interested in the well-being of the home’s residents. The home is very well-maintained, and they have a great piano. Finally, all the residents are very lively and talkative, and they really enjoy our live show. We made a few new friends and reconnected with a couple residents we knew from past performances.
Speaking of reconnecting, I met two good friends who are now residents of Mountain Park. Their names are Doris and Eddie. I used to perform with them at a nursing home in Tempe before I met Timothy. In fact, I hadn’t seen them since the day before the wedding.
It was great to talk with them again, and they were quite glad that our marriage is going so well. I made sure to play a few songs Doris and Eddie taught me during my days performing with them. “I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles”, “Bye-Bye Blackbird” and “Baby Face” were all dedicated to them.
Incidentally, many of the residents asked about Tim’s guide dog, Ansel. Sadly, we had to tell them about Ansel’s passing last month, but we were both touched that so many people remembered him.
Mountain Park is already booked through the rest of the year, according to one of their activities directors. We can’t wait to play there again, as soon as possible!
