Yesterday Timothy and I had a great time at the Carrillons, a nursing home in Sun City, Arizona. We played a few hymns, some patriotic songs, and lots of music from the 30’s and 40’s.
Right away, it became clear to both of us that the residents really loved our performance. They sang along with nearly every song, and they were very quiet and engaged as we told stories about ourselves and our lives together. They also applauded after every song. Although we couldn’t see their faces, we knew they had a lot of fun. We hope to play there again at the first opportunity, which should come sometime in October.
Next Thursday, I’ll check in with a report of my performance at Mi Casa Nursing Center from 9 to 10 AM. Until then, keep music in your heart!
